Found this on my newsfeed last week:

I was with a friend last week and we were talking about how we really hate to waste money on cheaply made, made in China junk. She wants to de-China her life.

My response?

Don’t send her my way.

I get the whole simplify-your-life thing. When I clean out our kids’ stuff, I vow to never bring another toy into our home again which lasts a marathon 2 weeks typically until I renew my vow. I get how annoying it is to have dollar store trinkets someone played 52 pick up with in your living room.

But, there’s a lot more to China than happy meal toys.

China’s 1.35 billion people make it the most populated country in the world and a major player in the world’s economy. It’s historical records dating back to 1,600 B.C. makes it a history with…maybe…9 times more stories and more real lifetimes than that of the United States. A language so rich in meaning with characters that are nothing less than works of art in and of themselves. Stunning architecture. Beautiful gardens. People eager to learn and grow and develop.

We love where we live. But, part of our hearts reside in China. And, having a daughter who calls China her homeland simply sealed the deal.

Think China is all about cheap toys and fortune cookies? Maybe you should stick around afterall; I just might convert you.

Hello

I overthink everything. This blog is a prime example. Make yourself a cup of coffee and sit down for a read. Actually, make that a pot of coffee. There’s a lot of overthinking here.
