My 6-year-old Evan eagerly asked me to fill out an entry form yesterday to win a Speed Racer prize that was in some toy magazine. I agreed and started to fill it out–I’m a sucker for a free giveaway! He asked me to read him the instructions, which I did. Then, he asked, “So, when will my prize come?” I tried to explain that there were only a handful of winners and that lots of people were going to send this form in. But, he just didn’t quite get it. SO, I decided to do a fun little project of my own that I had been thinking about doing anyway (thanks to my yahoo group friend Denise who recently did a giveaway on her blog). This will help teach him what a “sweepstakes” is as well as add a little fun for waiting adoptive moms!
We are offering a giveaway for a pack of 10 custom notecards similar to the ones pictured here. The winner can choose what wording to put on the various cards–can be your first name, a monogram, “thank you from…”, “a note from…”, etc. These cards sell at a local boutique for $16. To enter, you must be a waiting adoptive mom for a child from China. Just post a comment to this blog entry with your name and LID. Feel free to add a little something about yourself or your family if I don’t know you already. I am going to let Evan “draw” a name (a concept he really didn’t get since he thought he had that drawing a winner meant he had to draw a picture to get a prize) on Sunday, June 15th. I will post a blog entry that day with the winner’s name!
