We are part of a great yahoo group for families adopting from China in the same timing as us (all with Log-In Dates in July 2007). We have had a gift exchange going that we do every other month, and I got my gift today! The theme was Happy Children’s Day which is pretty general but gave everybody a chance to give a gift specifically for the children. Today, I got the cutest little ladybug outfit, a matching hairbow (I love hairbows!), and the cutest little ladybug spoon and fork set. It was good to get a fun package today!

spring is here
While Mark packed up the canoe and fishing gear for an afternoon with Evan, Ashlyn enjoyed the first visit by the ice cream man. There’s the truck right behind her. Note that she is standing in our front yard–the ice cream man conveniently comes basically directly to our house. Wish he offered some sort of payment plan or prepaid discount as this is the first of many, many summer visits.

It was a momentous day today in the Raudenbush household. It was so nice today that Mark decided to take Evan out for a “fishing cruise” on the canoe this afternoon. Evan brought his little Spiderman fishing rod and casted it out with his father. AND (drumroll, please), Evan caught his very first official fish–he hooked it and reeled it in himself! AND, it was 14″ long!!!! Yahoo! Mark caught a few pictures on his cell phone (gotta love modern technology!). So, the pics aren’t great–but good enough to capture the pride on this little boy’s face. Look at Evan–I would say he’s beaming.
Mark caught three small fish himself. Evan told him, “You caught the most and I caught the biggest,” happy that they both “won.” Mark was easily just as excited as Evan was.
