If only
we had a second full bathroom. I mean, 4 kids…we really need that second bathroom. It’s hard to believe we’ve lived this long without it, and it’s only going to get harder as they get older.
If only
we had a mudroom…more closet space…a bigger kitchen…a newer kitchen.
If only
our laundry room were upstairs, life would be so much easier.
There’s an amazing photojournalist—Michael Wolf–my friend Heather just introduced me to. He’s taken amazing photographs in China and elsewhere, making the ordinary transform into extraordinary. And, his 100×100 project made me take pause.
Hong Kong. An apartment building with 100 apartments. 100 individual living spaces for different families. And, each only 100 sq. feet.
If only
I valued what we’ve been given more.
If only
I realized that we need a lot less and took every opportunity to teach my kids the same.
If only
I were thankful we have clothes to wash with clothes still in our small closets, extra shoes for different outfits, and hair accessories and jewelry to go with them all.
Not sayin’ that extra bathroom wouldn’t be nice. That a new kitchen wouldn’t be great. That a front loading washer and dryer in a bright color (orange? green?) outside my bedroom door wouldn’t make me smile during my housework.
But, you know what?
I’m going to be just fine without all that.
