{Purposeful Giveaway} Ribbons for Grace for Clean Water

11.9.11

You need to hear this.

Seriously.

Do I have your attention?

Do you know that lack of clean water kills approximately 9,800 people around the world everyday.

Every. single. day.

Astounding. Frankly, angering.

And, while we are spending $450 billion on Christmas every year. Only $20 billion would solve the clean water crisis around the world.

How’s that to take your breath away.

Charity: Water is a non-profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations. With the current number of drilling rigs they have right now, it will take 14 years to bring 100% of the people living in Northern Ethiopia clean water. With just one more rig, it will only take 10 years. If their current campaign reaches its goal, that number will be cut to 8 years.

Monica was moved to be a part of this effort. To celebrate her 28th birthday, she decided to shift her gifts to help fund this drilling equipment. She set a goal of $1,500 which she then upped to $5,000–she knows something big is happening here.

And, you can be a part of it too.

All proceeds from her Etsy store in November are going towards this effort.

And, I’m a big fan of her Etsy store.

Let me show you why…

When Lydia’s wearing her Ribbons for Grace pants, her backside is just more fun to photograph than her frontside. I’m just saying.
And, these ruffle pants made from repurposed t-shirts are perfect for skinny little ladies like Lydia. Just perfect.
I’ll take 3 different colors in every size until she’s 12, please.
Want a pair for your little one? I know you do. And, here’s your chance.
Monica is giving away one lil pair of t-shirt ruffle bum pants (newborn-18 mo. size) custom made for your lil one. You are going to love these.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

I won’t make you become a bloggy friend, but look over to the right somewhere there and consider joining the party and becoming a follower. But, you can enter even if you aren’t.

Leave a comment here naming your favorite item from Ribbons for Grace. Look around–she’s got some other super cute things there.

For a second entry, give one reason YOU are thankful for clean water.
__________________________________________________________

That’s all you gotta do to enter.
And, you have until Sunday the 13th at 9pm EST to do it.
I’ll choose a winner using random.org after that.

And, go ahead, go order some stuff from Monica knowing that you are helping her reach her goal and helping fund that rig for families in Northern Ethiopia to have clean water.

Lots more giveaways to go before Christmas. I can’t even keep track of them all. So, put “checking in at www.myoverthinking.com” on your ical.

A reason I’m thankful for clean water is it makes our lives so much easier. All we have to do is walk over and turn on the faucet and we can cook, drink, bathe worry free. It’s so upsetting that not everyone has that luxury.

After spending some time in Haiti this summer, I realized just how fortunate we truly are just to have been born here. To be able to wake up and get a shower, brush your teeth, make a pot of tea out of our faucet is a true luxury. I am very thankful for that. I’m often in the shower thanking God for hot water because, in Haiti, we got freezing cold showers.

We recently had our pics taken by a woman who is donating all of her proceeds from photo sessions to this same cause. I am so glad to see more people taking up this very important cause!

I am so much more thankful for clean water after my two mission trips to Haiti (pre-hurricane). We couldn’t drink any of the water there while the people around us were drinking from streams. I felt so torn, on one hand I was blessed for the access to the bottled water/thankful for the clean water I had at home, but I also felt very sad that this was the world we live in.

I am not only thankful for access to clean water but also plumbing! Where we live we are the only family with flush toilets and showers. I am so very very thankful for this for health reasons. Often we are the only family not to catch whatever is ‘going around’ because we can wash our hands, drink clean water, and shower whenever we please. For that I am grateful.

I just love those pants! Piper would look so cute in them especially since I can’t find any pants that will stay up on her tiny waist. I am thankful for clean water because we can be sure that we won’t get sick from it any time we need to use water to drink, cook, or clean!

Supporting clean water is huge for me. I have been supporting Charity:Water for a few years now. After living in Ghana for 4 months, I was able to experience what it was like for a town to not have access to clean water. It was devastating to see everybody drinking unhealthy, dirty, bug filled water. So many were sick and suffering because of it. I like being able to drink clean water, wash in clean water, and thankful for our plumbing system.
I never realized the necessity of clean water until my time spent in Ghana. I highly recommend supporting Charity:Water.

Hello

I overthink everything. This blog is a prime example. Make yourself a cup of coffee and sit down for a read. Actually, make that a pot of coffee. There’s a lot of overthinking here.
