Cousin time

7.7.10

For only having 2 kids, Mark’s mom did pretty well for herself in the grandchild department. She’s got 8…so far. Grandchildren include a 9 year old (as of next week), an 8 year old, a 7 year old, a 6 year old, two 4 year olds, and 2 toddlers only a couple weeks apart in age. With Mark’s sister living in North Carolina, we don’t get to see her and her family nearly enough. I miss that the kids can’t play together more often and be a real part of each other’s daily lives.

Introducing Lydia for the first time to her cousins
I remember doing this thing when I was a kid. How come I never thought of putting dish soap on it to make it more slippery?
Tabi walking Lydia…more like Lydia walking Tabi.
Drew with his Orange Crush moustache
Tabi getting some snuggle time feeding Lyds.
The kids engaging in a competitive Tic-Tac-Toe World Cup tournament in the treehouse
A bunch of tired but happy cousins

Sunday Snapshot: Independence Day 2010

7.5.10

A happy 4th of July indeed. Doesn’t get much better celebrating Independence Day at the beach with…
Dependent #1 – Evan, who is slowly becoming more independent and even lost a tooth today just to prove it to us. I was able to convince him to take off a skull t-shirt and put on a blue one for the occasion though.
Dependent #2 – Ashlyn, who is the most independent 6 year old I know. What a beauty, huh?
and Dependent #3 – Drew, our 4 year old who talked our ear off during the fireworks. This boy doesn’t really stop talking really and though he looks super sweet in this picture…
he more often looks like this–some funny face or pirate face or something or other.
eating caramel popcorn from Fisher’s with Nanma and Grandaddy and marveling
Dependent #4 – our newest American citizen who thoroughly enjoyed the fireworks.

Dreams Come True

7.3.10

Funland in Rehoboth Beach — a step back in time where you can still ride a little boat ride for $.30. It’s tradition to go there each year on family vacation. I can very clearly remember watching the kids on these rides last year — here’s a couple pictures I just found of last year —

They’ve really grown up. I can remember standing beside the Merry Go Round last year. We saw a family with a toddler who looked like she may have been from China. Every one of us noticed her (all 5 of us, my sisters, and my parents). We smiled at the family. We watched our kids go on the ride and I said to Mark, “Do you think we’ll have Lydia here next year?” We were so frustrated at that point; sometimes I doubted it would ever happen. “I don’t know, Kelly. Probably not.” “Maybe we will, Honey.” Well, here we are. And, here she is. Dreams come true.

(And, dreams came true for Evan too since he finally got the nerve up
to go on the Haunted Mansion ride.)

Hello

I overthink everything. This blog is a prime example. Make yourself a cup of coffee and sit down for a read. Actually, make that a pot of coffee. There’s a lot of overthinking here.
