Fenwick Island, DE for family vacation

7.13.08

Just got back from some time in Fenwick at my parent’s place. Kids had fun. We relaxed. We even got a night out for a date while my parent’s stayed with the kids. Fun stuff! Here’s some pics I put together from the trip so far.

A highlight for me was meeting Lisa Stetler. She and her husband are also adopting a baby girl from China and are actually in our LID group from Living Hope. So, they will travel with us to get their baby when we travel to bring home our own. Very likely, the girls will be from the same orphanage. They could even be crib mates! It was great to talk with her and get to know her some, knowing that we will share a very special bond for the rest of our lives. Our daughters will likely be very significant to each other, having spent their early days together.

happy fourth of July!

7.6.08

Spent the day yesterday in Bethlehem with Mark’s family. Sara and Don, Emory, Tabi, and Wyatt were all up from North Carolina for the week. It was great to see all 6 kiddos play together and enjoy each other’s company–wonder what it will be like when the 6 become 8. That’s a lot of kids.

Despite some shaky weather throughout the day, the fireworks went on as planned at 9pm. And, I must say, I think they were the best fourth of July fireworks I’ve ever seen. What a great tradition.

franklin institute

7.2.08

With a few more days of having Mark home before he starts a new job, we spent the day down at Franklin Institute to explore the Real Pirate’s exhibit which was pretty cool. It tells the story of a real pirate ship that was found off the coast of Cape Cod. There was a life-sized model of a Pirate ship that we could walk through and lots of treasure on display. We also saw an IMax movie called Wild Ocean that was pretty neat. We ended up buying a membership since it wasn’t much more than a normal admission. So, we’ll be headed there again to get our money’s worth. What’s neat about the membership is that it will also get us into the Baltimore Science Center near my parent’s house. So, I guess we’ll be hitting that one later this summer too.
P.S. telltale sign that kids had fun today—both Evan and Ashlyn are sleeping with maps of the franklin institute and have already planned out their next trip there.

Drew – petty theft

6.30.08

Monday, June 30th, 2008 — Two-year-old Andrew M. Raudenbush was caught red handed at the Giant grocery store earlier today. Supposedly, while his mother innocently pushed the cart through the produce section with her three children in it (ages 6, 4, and 2), Drew reached out of the cart and snagged a fuji apple which he proceeded to eat. The act went unnoticed for some time. By the time it was noticed, the apple was half eaten. The clerk accepted the confession via Drew’s mother and charged them a flat $.50 for the stolen fruit.

Hello

I overthink everything. This blog is a prime example. Make yourself a cup of coffee and sit down for a read. Actually, make that a pot of coffee. There’s a lot of overthinking here.
