Finley and Oliver for The Sparrow Fund

5.1.11

Ooo….we’re off to a fun start.

Grace started the Finley and Oliver clothing line when she found herself frustrated at the lack of little boys’ clothes that weren’t emblazoned with puppy dogs or fire engines. Oh, how I dread the puppy dogs and fire engine matching sweatsuits too, Grace.

Two years old now, her line has really taken off. And, I understand why. What’s not to love?

Drew has an odd fascination with moustaches. Though this tee is sold out right now, I may be preordering one of these babies for him.

And, this tank. So simple but so very pretty. Does this come in my size too? I think if Ashlyn and Lydia wore this, I’d be jealous. Love it.

Finley and Oliver only uses American Apparel blanks which are sweatshop free and made in downtown Los Angeles. I love this brand tee–they wash and wear beautifully. I like the slim cut and stretch of them. I’m not just sayin’ that either. I’ve got 4 kids–our clothes have to make it through 2 kids at least. American Apparel brand tees do. And, Grace uses eco-fi felt for her appliques which is made from recycled plastic bottles. Pretty cool, huh?

Grace was quick to join us with our May Fundraising drive with The Sparrow Fund. She’s gotta soft spot in her heart for adoption. Between her two sisters, she has three adopted nieces and one adopted nephew from China.

Grace wrote to me —

When I was approached to contribute 10% of my sales for the month of May to The Sparrow Fund, there was no way I could refuse. My sister and her husband have adopted special needs children from China – one of whom has significant medical issues which will require lifelong surgeries and treatment. Providing counsel and comprehensive medical reviews of referred children to adoptive parents is such a blessing and an essential tool in preparing them for what lies ahead.

So, go check out her site, people. Thank her for supporting The Sparrow Fund and adoption. And, get shopping. I may be buying some of these after the month of May is over —

33 for The Sparrow Fund

4.30.11

33. 33!

33 businesses (as of today) have generously offered to give 10% of their total sales during the month of May to The Sparrow Fund.

Some businesses have been around for years; some are very new. Some are larger and well known; some are very small. But, old or new, large or small, each one is saying, “Yes, we support adoption; we support adoptive families; we support the work of The Sparrow Fund.”

And, we are thankful, so thankful. And, we are joyfully anticipating that 10% to be multiplied.

The button below will take you to a page showing you all the retailers. Go check them out. And, start shopping tomorrow–don’t even think about ordering something until after midnight. And, become a follower here and keep checking in on this blog and fellow Sparrow board member Ashley’s blog. We’re going to be posting everyday about these businesses and some of our favorite things from them.

And, if you support the work of The Sparrow Fund and want to help us build the nest during the month of May, grab the button below and put it on your blog. Go to the Facebook page and “like” it. Post links to the buttons, to The Sparrow Fund, or to this blog post on your Facebook status. Share on your blog or on facebook what you found and purchased from these shops, and let us ooo and ahhh at it as well. And, if you have a business and want to become #34, contact me!

Embrace the cause with us, and help us build the nest, friends.

Hello

I overthink everything. This blog is a prime example. Make yourself a cup of coffee and sit down for a read. Actually, make that a pot of coffee. There’s a lot of overthinking here.
