A Pick-Me-Up Giveaway

10.12.10

I love giveaways. I love entering them, and I love winning them. And, I love hosting them. I love giving something to someone just for fun or for some purpose–like some free advertising for something cool.

So, since I am going to need a pick-me-up myself this week, I’m hosting a giveaway. The winner will receive their choice of one of the following–a custom charm from Jiayin Designs (up to a $50 value, may I personally tell you how beautiful these are? Love them! Okay, I’m biased, but they seriously are super cool) or a neat Ethiopian-themed charm and magnet set that I won in a giveaway elsewhere and that I thought might be fun for a family with a little one from Ethiopia joining their family.

These are just some examples of the charms. Check out the custom word charms here and the custom name charms here.

Here’s how you can enter:
1. Go to Jiayin Designs and take a look around. Leave a comment here sharing which item you like best.
2. Go to We Are Grafted In–the adoption site Mark and I are administrators for–and take a look around. Leave a comment there responding to any of the posts. There are some good ones, so don’t rush. I am so blessed by the articles posted there. You won’t get any bonus entries for checking out the forum. But, I do want to point out that there is a forum there with some amazing members, a community of folks really worth being a part of.
3. Leave a comment here with a topic you’d like addressed in an article posted on We Are Grafted In. I have so enjoyed finding pieces to post there, but they have been ones that have touched me. I want to know what readers are most interested in reading. Feel free to make suggestions of specific authors who you think would fit the site well.
4. Blog about this giveaway, Jiayin Designs, and/or We Are Grafted In for an entry.
5. Add a link to Jiayin Designs and/or We Are Grafted In in your facebook status to get the word out for another entry.
6. Send me flowers or send Mark a gold medal for 5 entries. (Kidding. Don’t do this. Our 2 silly cats would probably eat the flowers and then promptly throw them up, creating even more work for my poor dear husband this week.)

So, that’s 5 possible ways to enter. Do one, or do all 5. Up to you!

I’ll let people enter up until Tuesday night the 19th. We’ll pick a winner on the 20th, assuming all are well and I don’t have carpal tunnel from “talking” too much this week.

Jiayin Giveaway Winner!

8.9.10

Remember the Jiayin Designs giveaway for someone fundraising for their adoption?

Evan picked the winner this time…and the winner is…(drumroll, please) Daleea at Orphaned No More! She is selling the coolest bracelets–please check them out if you haven’t already. I’ve gotta get one for me and one for Ashlyn. I even love the way she names and photographs each different pattern. So creative! And, you know what is so cool, she has coordinating ones to match things purchased from Robin over at Red Thread Stitches–another mama fundraising for their adoption. So neat.

Daleea, can’t wait to see how you use the charm to raise more money for your cause! And, I’m happy to report that there were 175 clicks on those fundraising links from my blog post! If you weren’t one of those 175, take the time to go back to the original post here, scroll down and check out all the creative things these families are doing to raise the funds needed for their adoptions. Furthermore, buy something! Bid on something! Donate something! Whatever! Support these families!

I hope to do this giveaway again maybe next month–so keep your eyes open those of you who didn’t win it this time. I love bringing Jiayin attention as well as bringing all of you fundraising families more exposure!

Jiayin Designs–New Style Added!

7.11.10

Isn’t this SO pretty? It’s a hand cut sterling silver character (like all the ones available from Jiayin Designs) in a circular frame loosely connected to a large round piece of mother of pearl. You can order it in natural (as shown), an ivory shade, or a dark blackish shade. So stunning on! I just love it.

The character I had put on this one for a sample piece is hao. Hao means good. But, what I love about it is that what creates the character here for good is actually the characters for woman (the character on the left) with a child (the character on the right). Isn’t that beautiful? What actually symbolizes good is a woman with a child. What a beautiful symbol to wear around my neck, and a wonderful reminder to me that what I am doing in mothering these 4 children is good.

Jiayin Designs–New Things!

6.21.10

I just updated the website Jiayin Designs with two new items Helen is offering for a limited time. Please check these out!

Aren’t these pearls beautiful? I have a white set for Ashlyn and a blush set for Lydia. The little sterling silver ladybug clasp is so darling. Ladybugs symbolize good luck in various places around the world. Specifically in China, tradition holds that if a ladybug is caught and released, it will faithfully fly to your true love and whisper your name in his or her ear. Upon hearing the ladybug’s message, your true love will hurry to your side. Perhaps that tradition is how it became a symbol for Chinese adoptions.
And, I just love this tiger-head hat. These hats traditionally were given to children to imply a prayer of blessing for the child as well as a celebration of the child’s beauty and vigor. The tradition is dying out now in modern cities in China. So, I’m really excited to have one for Lydia. Each one is handmade and is unique in its color and design. And, it looks adorable on Miss Lydia!

Hello

I overthink everything. This blog is a prime example. Make yourself a cup of coffee and sit down for a read. Actually, make that a pot of coffee. There’s a lot of overthinking here.
