that’s what little boys are made of

5.5.08

It was a momentous day today in the Raudenbush household. It was so nice today that Mark decided to take Evan out for a “fishing cruise” on the canoe this afternoon. Evan brought his little Spiderman fishing rod and casted it out with his father. AND (drumroll, please), Evan caught his very first official fish–he hooked it and reeled it in himself! AND, it was 14″ long!!!! Yahoo! Mark caught a few pictures on his cell phone (gotta love modern technology!). So, the pics aren’t great–but good enough to capture the pride on this little boy’s face. Look at Evan–I would say he’s beaming.

Mark caught three small fish himself. Evan told him, “You caught the most and I caught the biggest,” happy that they both “won.” Mark was easily just as excited as Evan was.

new batch of referrals

5.3.08

The may batch of referrals are arriving. Though I am thrilled for the families who were able to see their baby’s face for the first time (or babies’–I saw a picture from a family who received gorgeous girl twins!), it is hard to be encouraged at this point. Looks like this month the CCAA only processed 3 days worth of LIDs. That means that in the last 12 months, the CCAA only processed 78 days worth of LIDs total, under 3 months worth of LIDs. With a LID of 7/23/2007 and current referrals up to 1/12/2006, obviously we are far far off. In fact, they MUST speed up or else it would take about 6 more years before we get our child. I’m holding onto hope that after the Olympics in Beijing, there will be a speed up. We’re hoping that they get back to processing 30-35 LID batches per month come this fall.

Hello

I overthink everything. This blog is a prime example. Make yourself a cup of coffee and sit down for a read. Actually, make that a pot of coffee. There’s a lot of overthinking here.
