Grammy

12.30.08

On Christmas Eve, Mark’s mom’s mom passed away. She was an amazing woman, a faithful Catholic, a hard worker, and a woman totally invested in and committed to her family. She died in the home her husband built for them in 1938 after suffering from bladder cancer. She will be greatly missed, particularly by Mark’s mom. Grammy was her best friend, and they saw each other daily.
Anna E. Altemus, 93, died on Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at her home in Bethlehem. She was born in Bethlehem, the daughter of the late Louis and Margaret (Yuhasz) Prayner. Anna was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, James H. Altemus Jr. She was the cook at St. Annes Convent in Bethlehem from 1955 to 1969. Anna was a charter member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Bethlehem. Survivors: She will be lovingly remembered by her children, James H. Altemus and his wife Joan of Seabrook Island, S.C., Sister Mary Faith Altemus of the Society of Our Mother of Peace, Michael J. Altemus and his wife Barbara of Chalfont, Anna Raudenbush and her husband Richard Steigerwalt of Bethlehem, and Mary Johnson and her husband Robert of Franklinville, N.J.; a brother, Arthur Prayner and his wife Florence of Moyock, N.C.; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Anna was predeceased by her sister, Margaret Prayner Bickford, and her brother, Louis Prayner. Services: The family will receive friends 9-9:40 a.m., Monday, December 29, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church 3219 Santee Rd., Bethlehem, PA 18020. The Rosary will be prayed at 9:40 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 10 a.m. Burial will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem. Online condolences may be made at www.connellfuneral.com. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Society of Our Mother of Peace, 12494 Highway T., Marionville, MO 65705, and/or V.N.A. On December 23, 1997, after knowing each other a little less than 4 months, Mark took me to a nice dinner in downtown Bethlehem, all lit up for Christmas, and proposed. I can still picture him standing in front of me on the bridge downtown, smiling ear to ear and blushing as he reached into his inside coat pocket and took out the most beautiful piece of jewelry I have ever seen in my life. I was totally in love then. And, I’m totally in love today.

Hello

I overthink everything. This blog is a prime example. Make yourself a cup of coffee and sit down for a read. Actually, make that a pot of coffee. There’s a lot of overthinking here.
