2 1/2 days

1.27.11

That’s how long my kids will have spent in school over the course of 3 weeks. Between two scheduled days off around MLK Jr. Day, 2 days of missed school from being totally sick (not just a little sick), an astounding number of snow days, and our Disney trip…which starts tomorrow…only 2 1/2 days of school in 3 weeks time. Oh, the adjustment back is going to be hard…but I’m not going to think about that now.

Right now, I’m a crazy lady.

While Mark did this early this morning due to 12+” of snow (sigh)…

and then headed off to try to get some work done,

I was trying to keep these monkeys busy (okay, I have been depending on the tv a bit more than usual today–though I’m happy to say legos are entertaining them right now)

so that I could do this….

PACK! Yes, there are outfits laid out for each child for each day that I am putting in ziploc bags and labeling so that mornings in Disney are as painless as possible so we can get out of the room and get to the fun! (There is something I simply enjoy about zipping ziplocs so that they are basically vacuum sealed…does that make me weird?)

Can’t forget some of the fun stuff I worked on last week while the kids were sick and sleeping 20 hours straight….

pillowcases for characters to sign…love how these came out…

I am totally digging these shirts I made for Evan and Drew…Disneyish but not over the top…well, maybe  a little over the top, but doesn’t scream Mickey…

My sister Erin got in on some craftiness and made these books for us too–It’s a blank journal made out of an old Golden book. How darling is that for picture drawing, journaling, passing the time at meals, etc. etc.
I’m pumped. Now back to packing.

Sunday Snapshots {A visit from Tink}

1.23.11

Her front tooth had been loose for over a month. Having only lost one tooth so far and very anxious to lose another, she was wiggling it like crazy….until I mentioned that it would be fun to have it come out in Disney. No more wiggling. Now, it became her mission to hold onto this thing at least until this coming Friday when we arrive at Disney World. I confess that I was into the mission myself–I mean, they have to do something magical for kids who lose a tooth there, right?

But, yesterday, when she woke up, we saw this…

and I’m not talking about her Medusa-like hair do. I’m talking about her nasty front tooth. Loose teeth make me feel a little woozy. Ick.

Mark was after her all day to let him pull it wiggle it. Nope. She wouldn’t let him. But, a trip to Chick Fil A for dinner and some play in the kids indoor playground did the trick. Drew rushed out to me, yelling “Ashlyn lost her tooth!” Just what every mother in the place wanted to hear, I’m sure. I rush in there with napkins, picturing a crime scene. But, no, this tooth was so ready to come out that it just dropped on out when she bumped her face on some equipment. No crime scene, and nothing a little ice cream cone couldn’t take care of.

So, she put her tooth under her pillow and found this letter there this morning.

Poor Tinkerbell. I bet it was hard to leave that 70 degree sunny weather to come up here to the 9 degree night we had last night just for a tooth.

Hello

I overthink everything. This blog is a prime example. Make yourself a cup of coffee and sit down for a read. Actually, make that a pot of coffee. There’s a lot of overthinking here.
