quote of encouragement for today

4.29.08

“We can easily manage if we will only take, each day, the burden appointed to it. But, the load will be too heavy for us if we carry yesterday’s burden over again today and then add the burden of the morrow before we are required to bear it.” – John Newton

the circus is in town!

4.26.08

Just returned from a trip down to the Spectrum in Phili to see Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey’s circus! It was a lot of fun–the kids loved it. Funny how they have “updated” the circus since I remember going as a kid. All the music was very trendy and “hiphoppish.” Costumes were really modern. And, prices have definitely been modernized–a thing of popcorn was $7 and the program (which we had to buy for Evan, of course) was $15. As we were leaving, he asked if they sold songs he could put on his MP3 player. Though they did not, unfortunately, the circus has definitely changed for the 21st century. Evan liked the lead clown the best. I loved the elephants–they were too cute holding onto each others tails as they walked around. Ashlyn liked a clown who blew bubbles the best–sorta funny since it was, in my opinion, a little bit boring and a filler as they set up the next act. But, she also liked the horses with feathers and all the ladies with any costumes that sparkled. Drew seemed to like the dogs who did tricks the best. And, Mark, I think he liked the crazy flexible guys who did all sorts of tricks as well as the motorcycles in the cage. Very cool stuff. Thanks to Nanma, Granddaddy, and Gran for giving the tickets to us for Evan’s and Drew’s birthdays!

Hello

I overthink everything. This blog is a prime example. Make yourself a cup of coffee and sit down for a read. Actually, make that a pot of coffee. There’s a lot of overthinking here.
