I’m beginning to wonder what may be next…or should I not?

10.14.08

Tonight, Ash ran around a corner in our kitchen and gashed her eye on the corner of the countertop. Mark took her to the ER for stitches. I stayed home to feed, bathe, and put to bed Evan and Drew with no words at all.

The reserves are coming tomorrow. And, I’m really hoping to win that free handbag.

on a totally different topic

I’m happy to blog about something other than my crazy vocal cords for a change. So, I’m posting a link to a cool new website that has a cool giveaway going on for a new handbag–completely free. Normally, I’d think twice about posting about a contest because I don’t want competition! But, in this case, I get 25 more entries if I post the link on my blog. So, I am doing just that. I was thinking a new handbag would be a better pick-me-up right now than chocolate–particularly since chocolate aggravates reflux…lovely.

Living Quietly in a noisy world

10.13.08

Sounds like a really good book title. Maybe I’ll be able to write it one day.

My strict vocal rest is now extended until Thursday at least. I went to the doctor today who confirmed that I have an acute right vocal fold hemorrhage. So, silent I remain until I return to the doctor on Thursday to see if it has healed enough to start speaking again. In the meantime, Grammy is coming tomorrow and Nanma is coming for the following two days to “mother” my children at least verbally.

I got an email today from a wonderful lady from my Bible Study who wrote to tell me she was praying for me and to cheer me with a funny story. I have to post it here since if I were allowed to laugh, I would have at reading this:

Here’s a funny story to give you a chuckle. About 3 or 4 years ago, my son (the hippy/dippy, peace and love one) was dating a girl named Michelle. He told us before he brought her home the first time that she was a mute and they were often at the house and we’d find notes all over the place. [My husband] was totally entranced and was planning to do a film about her to be entitled “Speechless.” She always wore long gauzy flowing white dresses and wore her hair in a red bob. One day, Art came home and thought I’d bought a new piece of garden statuary – but it was just Michelle doing Tai Chi in the garden – except that she didn’t have the red bob (turned out it was a wig), but had a red mohawk! Next thing, [my son] tells us that she isn’t exactly a mute, she just chooses not to talk! Gag!! Before too long, she ran off with his best friend — total betrayal! Cut to 2008 and Jon is back with Michelle the Mute – except she isn’t mute anymore — we often tell her she’s a lot more fun now that she’s talking!!

Hee. Hee. That’s the only chuckling I’m doing right now. But, I sure liked the email!

Hello

I overthink everything. This blog is a prime example. Make yourself a cup of coffee and sit down for a read. Actually, make that a pot of coffee. There’s a lot of overthinking here.
