Ashlyn’s sharing the well

5.5.10

Our church hosts a missions focused weekend every year called Share the Well (named after Caedmon’s Call’s song) which fell on March 25th this year. I was on the worship team for the first time since we had gotten home from China. I took Ashlyn with me for the preservice rehearsal as I often do. After the service and for the couple weeks since then, she has been singing the theme song, even asking me to help her practice and remember the words–I convinced her that recording her singing it would help her get it just right. Perhaps the reason she knows it so well is because we practiced this particular part about 100 times–just couldn’t get the rhythm right. Ashlyn seems to get it just fine–all she’s missing is some African bongos! My favorite part is her smile at the end–and the unrecorded conversation we had about what it means to have a living well that “ain’t ever running dry.”

Sunday photo shoot

5.3.10

What do you do when you have a toddler in church who isn’t ready to go the nursery yet (we aren’t letting anyone besides us hold her still) and doesn’t want to sit still for a sermon? Well, you go outside for a photo shoot. This mama doesn’t travel far without her camera. I don’t want to miss a thing.

As much fun as these photo shoots are, I’m wondering when I will leave her in the nursery. Our adoption specialist told us to go as long as we can without anyone else holding her. She may not realize my fortitude.

And, I hereby promise that I won’t only blog about Lydia from here on out. I do realize that we have 3 other amazing miracle children in our home. But, for now, it’s going to be a lot about Lydia. I mean, seriously, look how cute she is? And, well, even the 3 other kids are all consumed by her!

our love machine

5.2.10

Drew: “I love you a lot.”
Mama: “You do? How much do you love me?”
Drew: “One hun-did.”
Mama: “That’s a lot of love.”
Drew: (nods head emphatically)

Ashlyn’s teddy bear picnic

4.30.10

It was the Kindergarten Center’s Teddy Bear Picnic day today–kids brought their favorite bear, sang some bear songs, watched a very silly bear skit, and enjoyed a real deal teddy bear picnic. As you can see from the picture, Drew really wanted to be part of the action. That’s him, about 6 feet in front of the front row, inching closer and closer to the stage. Pardon the heads in the picture–I was the crazy mom standing up with my big Canon still camera, a handycam, and a toddler on my hip. I’m the woman I have made fun of in the past.

After the picnic, the kids enjoyed some playground time before they went back inside for some more bear fun.
.

I love this impromptu shot of my girls’ hands. It warms my heart.

Hello

I overthink everything. This blog is a prime example. Make yourself a cup of coffee and sit down for a read. Actually, make that a pot of coffee. There’s a lot of overthinking here.
