Jiayin Giveaway Winner!

8.9.10

Remember the Jiayin Designs giveaway for someone fundraising for their adoption?

Evan picked the winner this time…and the winner is…(drumroll, please) Daleea at Orphaned No More! She is selling the coolest bracelets–please check them out if you haven’t already. I’ve gotta get one for me and one for Ashlyn. I even love the way she names and photographs each different pattern. So creative! And, you know what is so cool, she has coordinating ones to match things purchased from Robin over at Red Thread Stitches–another mama fundraising for their adoption. So neat.

Daleea, can’t wait to see how you use the charm to raise more money for your cause! And, I’m happy to report that there were 175 clicks on those fundraising links from my blog post! If you weren’t one of those 175, take the time to go back to the original post here, scroll down and check out all the creative things these families are doing to raise the funds needed for their adoptions. Furthermore, buy something! Bid on something! Donate something! Whatever! Support these families!

I hope to do this giveaway again maybe next month–so keep your eyes open those of you who didn’t win it this time. I love bringing Jiayin attention as well as bringing all of you fundraising families more exposure!

Sunday Snapshot: Living Hope at Great Wolf

8.9.10

2 hours in the car to take the kids to the Living Hope Adoption Agency reunion here for the weekend.
Do I need to tell you it was a hit?
The kids saw this through a window in the lobby and started jumping around.
Evan said, “This is the best day ever!”
Really? Ever? He tends to speak in extremes.
These tubes essentially became our home for the weekend.

The kids named this one “the soaker” which was better than their name for their other favorite–“the toilet bowl.” I confess, it did fit the bill.
But, Lydia didn’t get to play in this one.
But, she sure did like this one.
Too tired from too many water slides to report much more.
You know how after you go roller skating, you still sorta feel like you are roller skating? That’s how I feel right now but about water slides.
We’re all going to sleep well tonight.

Thursday’s Things to Pray For

8.5.10

“Don’t pray when you feel like it. Have an appointment with the Lord and keep it. A man is powerful on his knees.”
-Corrie ten Boom

I desire to be a woman of prayer. But, I’m not that woman today. But, I know that He can make me that woman.

This blog was started as a means to connect with other people (particularly with regards to our adoption process) and keep a record of things for the kids and for me. I just wanted to remember daily life. Some days, I post something I want to remember. Some days, I post something I just want the kids to remember. Some days, I post something that I hope will encourage or entertain whoever out there may be reading my words. Well, Thursdays are going to be something different.

Thursday’s are going to have things to pray for, as I’ve done for the last 2 Thursdays. I want to commit myself to praying for some specific things that day, not a ton, just a few specific things. And, I want to record those things so that we remember what God has done.

Here are the things I am praying for this Thursday –

    1. For my husband who works hard to provide for us. Pray that the Lord would strengthen him and give him a clear sense of His calling in his life.
    2. For me to depend on God–not myself–to keep all the plates in my life spinning. I’ve got a lot of them going right now.
    3. For our weekend. We’re headed to Great Wolf Lodge for a reunion with our adoption agency. I’m excited to have fun as a family as well as connect with other adoptive families. Pray that our conversation would be encouraging and not just surface conversations as they sometimes can be at events like this.

Pray for me, for these things I list. And, leave me a comment to let me know you did if you don’t mind. It would be a great encouragement. And, I invite you to do the same on your blog. I’m hoping to get a couple brave blogger friends to join me in a blog-prayer group.

Grab this button above and add it to your blog post. All you have to do is highlight the code in the box above and paste it into your Thursday’s Things to Pray For post in the “edit HTML” tab wherever you want the button to appear.

Then, add your link to the list below. Just click on your own Thursday’s Things to Pray For post and copy the web address. That’s a direct link to the specific post (not just your blog in general). Then, paste that url address below. I’ll be sure to come by and pray for your requests too.

    before and after

    8.4.10

    Lydia.
Her neck creases are screaming “smooch me.”
    Her dimples are the cutest.
Even her wee little bottom tooth coming in on the right is downright precious.
    Love it. Love her.
Taking these pictures, I just wanted to cuddle her and snuggle her and tickle her like crazy.

    Until 10 minutes later.

While I was uploading these heart-warming pictures to my computer, Lydia managed to climb the stairs and toddle into the bathroom where one of my other lovely children used the toilet and did not flush and did not close the lid (I’m 100% certain no hands were washed either).

I came upstairs to fetch her, with warm feelings still in my heart from our happy photo shoot, only to find her playing in the potty and completely submerging her blanket (which we call Ren Ren named after the grocery store in Xi’an). She then was snuggling her soaked blanket and sucking her fingers as she slipped around on the now totally soaked bathroom floor.

    Ick.

    Ick.

    Ick.
No after pictures. I prefer to remember the before pictures.
    Ick.

    Hello

I overthink everything. This blog is a prime example. Make yourself a cup of coffee and sit down for a read. Actually, make that a pot of coffee. There’s a lot of overthinking here.
