Abundance

8.3.11

How appropriate that we spent today at a farm, Longview Center of Agriculture. It was an event planned for weeks–nothing spur of the moment about it. But, someone must have known it made sense to go there on this particular day.

The farmer told us about how things grow–how perennials come up every year and how one seed can end up producing a whole lot of fruit, how delicious fruit can be when that growing seed is cared for and protected from harm.

We pulled things right off the plants themselves to see for ourselves. And, they were good, abundantly good.

And, then, we witnessed even more abundance when we journeyed through the blackberry patches to pick all we could manage. We ate more than a few and took home way more than a few. Blackberries in abundance.

Yesterday afternoon, I was $300 short of the money needed to send to the women in Africa. Mary had just sent me a bunch of boxes of jewelry, animals, purses, and dolls. She used all the money she had to pay for shipping and emailed me yesterday asking if I could send her some even if just a little.

I put it out there–my blog, Facebook, and even tweeted (to the empty cyberspace of followers I have, mind you). “God, I know you can provide this.” And, He did.

Between 3:41 when I first posted the need on Facebook and 11:33pm before we shut off our lights, guess how much in sales we had? $299. One of orders came from someone local who said to keep the shipping amount and deliver her piece to her in person at church on Sunday…so that gave a grand total of $302. Look at that, God even gave us $2 extra. He provided.
But, it didn’t end there. See, He provides abundantly.
When I woke up, we had a few more sales on Etsy which ended up adding another $54 in sales today. Then, a friend from church who had taken pieces into work to try and sell dropped off the cash she had made–to the tune of $575. And, as if that weren’t abundant enough, I’ve been talking with a Canadian children’s boutique owner who was interested in purchasing 25 bracelets to resell. I had photographed 53 bracelets yesterday for her to choose from. This morning, she emailed me back saying that they were all so unique and beautiful, how could she choose? She’d buy all 53.
Now, how’s that for abundance?
Thank you to all who played a part in that. Thank you for buying things. Thank you for sharing the link with friends. Thank you for supporting these women, for supporting what we’re doing with The Sparrow Fund. Keep on buying, sharing, and supporting so that we can see God continuing that provision, abundant provision, both for the Kenyan women and also for grants to give adoptive families so they can get the support they need.

Sow righteousness, reap love. It’s time to till the ready earth, it’s time to dig in with God, Until he arrives with righteousness ripe for harvest.

God is good and so are you for allowing Him to work through you.

I just saw your comment on an older post of mine- Y’ALL DID DRESS LIKE COWS TOO!!! Why is it only once a year? Cows are important beings, to important to celebrate only once a year!

When did your little Lydia grow up so quickly???? Oh my goodness, she’s gotten so big and more and more beautiful! Trying to catch up on your blogs and great stuff you are doing tonight! You amaze me!

Hello

I overthink everything. This blog is a prime example. Make yourself a cup of coffee and sit down for a read. Actually, make that a pot of coffee. There’s a lot of overthinking here.
