75% done, 25% to go {our trip to the dentist}

5.22.11

Lydia’s first steps, Lydia’s first doctor’s visit, Lydia’s first hair cut…oh, I’ve got jpgs galore of her firsts. So, the first trip to dentist wasn’t going to be any different. I had every intention of getting adorable pictures of her teeny person in that big ole chair.

And, this is what I got.

Her teeny person digging through the goody basket to choose a star-patient prize she very much didn’t deserve. You will just have to imagine my not-so-teeny person in that chair hugging Lydia tight on top of me while she screamed. Perhaps it’s good that we don’t have any jpgs of that fun.

And, this one, after his this-is-the-baddest-day-ever morning wasn’t a star patient either. For some reason, this boy can come to this same place to get two cavities fixed and be happy as a clam. But, today, for a simple cleaning, not so much. He got through it–but only with a cocktail of bribery and threats from both me and the staff.

This girlie, on the other hand, teeth look good, didn’t complain at all, enjoyed her diamond ring and light up pencil prize. All is well. 1 out 3 ain’t bad.

 Somehow, I managed to cheer the other 2 up…somehow.

Hoping this works for me again on Monday when I head back there for Evan’s appointment. God bless me.

    Oh. My. I love Lydia’s little face! She is so gorgeous! Is her hair brown?

    My kids love he dentist. I, on the other hand, would love for my mommy to go and hold me while I am there. I hate it! So I completely agree with your kids!

    I am dreading the first time I have to take Maggie to the dentist. Dreading. Brushing her teeth is the equivalent of cruel and unusual punishment as far as she is concerned. I can only imagine what the dentist will be like. I don’t really blame any of them though–I’m not a big fan myself! Best of luck Monday!

    Hope MOnday is a success! I wanted to mention that I have allergies too and a trip to the dentist when I’m all stuffed up makes me a bit claustrophobic – could that have been his problem on top of the “terrible, no good, very bad day”? Just a thought. And a big hug to to Mom – you deserve it!

    Piper loves her dentist – when she’s not at her office (P is good buds with her dd Kate). As soon as the dentist comes into the office all heck breaks loose – screaming, crying, snot bubbles. Unfortunately she has really bad teeth – we brush & floss three times a day & she still had to have a major dental surgery

Hello

I overthink everything. This blog is a prime example. Make yourself a cup of coffee and sit down for a read. Actually, make that a pot of coffee. There’s a lot of overthinking here.
