Steel Anniversary

9.27.09

11 years — can’t believe it.

We’re so old.

We wanted to go to the nicer restaurant at Longwood Gardens. They close early though and the last seating was at 3:30. So, we decided we’d do a 3:30 meal. The meal was very nice and it was pretty and quiet. We exchanged our steel gifts–we always do the traditional anniversary gifts which makes anniversaries really fun (and sometimes stressful–forces me to think creatively. Not always easy to come up with what to give a man in the theme of fruit and flowers, etc.).
After our meal, we walked around Longwood Gardens and admired all the flowers and fall foliage (yes, I did just use the word foliage). Then, we went to Wegman’s (yes, a grocery store) to pick up a dessert to go. We were home by a little after 6pm, took the babysitter home, and had all the kids in bed by 7pm (a miracle really). We watched some tv together, ate our cannolis with some herbal tea, and were in bed by 9pm.
3:30 dinner, foliage, grocery store dessert, herbal tea, bed by 9pm….we’re officially old.
And, we love that we’re old together. 11 years of growing together and looking forward to many many more.

Happy Anniversary!! I think it’s great how you do the traditional gifts. I don’t know if I could talk my husband into that.

Looks like you had a great time!!

I think maybe you should have planned to go to Jamaica to hear the “steel drums!” YOu have the rest of the year to cash in on that plan, you know?!?!
congrats on your anniversary! I think an early date night – and being able to still put your kids to bed is the perfect plan! Blessings on you for many more years together!

Hello

I overthink everything. This blog is a prime example. Make yourself a cup of coffee and sit down for a read. Actually, make that a pot of coffee. There’s a lot of overthinking here.
