new batch of referrals

5.3.08

The may batch of referrals are arriving. Though I am thrilled for the families who were able to see their baby’s face for the first time (or babies’–I saw a picture from a family who received gorgeous girl twins!), it is hard to be encouraged at this point. Looks like this month the CCAA only processed 3 days worth of LIDs. That means that in the last 12 months, the CCAA only processed 78 days worth of LIDs total, under 3 months worth of LIDs. With a LID of 7/23/2007 and current referrals up to 1/12/2006, obviously we are far far off. In fact, they MUST speed up or else it would take about 6 more years before we get our child. I’m holding onto hope that after the Olympics in Beijing, there will be a speed up. We’re hoping that they get back to processing 30-35 LID batches per month come this fall.

Oh how frustrating…I HATE waiting – especially for unspecified amounts of time. I’ll continue in prayer!

“Wait for the LORD; be strong and let your heart take courage; yes, wait for the LORD.”
    Psalm 27:14

hey Kelly – I honestly don’t understand most of the adoption language you used — but I got the point that you’re discouraged and frustrated. Like the person above said, waiting for who-knows-how-long is so hard. I’ll pray for you as you walk the path of uncertainty.

Some language and process clarifications…”CCAA” is the Chinese Center for Adoption Affairs, the central office in China that handles all the adoption “stuff.” When you send your paperwork to China, you get a Log-in Date, or LID. That date is your place in line, if you will. Every month, once a month, the CCAA issues a batch of referrals, sending out pictures of babies and their information to the various agencies representing families. They will update their website at that time saying how far they got that month. Years ago, they were processing more than one month of LIDs for every month of processing. So, the wait time was very short (6 months at one point). But, that is clearly not the case now. This month, they only processed 3 days of LIDs for one full month of work. Hypothetically then, it would take them 10 months at that pace to get through one full month of LIDs. We are 19 months of LIDs away. So, that means a long long time before we get our child.

Hello

I overthink everything. This blog is a prime example. Make yourself a cup of coffee and sit down for a read. Actually, make that a pot of coffee. There’s a lot of overthinking here.
