Our annual Dogwood Festival
Every year, the Phoenixville Jaycees put on the Dogwood Festival in Reeves Park, the park across the street from us. They’ve been doing since the 1940s. The kids love it, and we love the tradition despite the loud noise and commotion for the week. It’s all good fun with yummy carnie food and a great small-town parade on Saturday. Here’s a little montage I made from our time out there last night. From the ferris wheel, Mark took a picture of our house, literally right across the street.
Cousin #6
We officially welcomed cousin #6 into our family today. Bohdan has been Erin (my sister) and Brian’s foster child for about 18-19 months, I believe. During that time, they lovingly have cared for him as if he was their own, fully planning from the start to make that happen. But, he wasn’t quite their own officially until today. Today, we attended a court hearing to make him legally their son. It was beautiful weather today, warm and sunny, a great day to celebrate God’s provision of a child for Erin and Brian and His provision of a family who loves the Lord and loves him for Boh. (and, yes, Erin has 7 weeks to go before baby #2 joins them!)
pick me up from my secret buddy
We are part of a great yahoo group for families adopting from China in the same timing as us (all with Log-In Dates in July 2007). We have had a gift exchange going that we do every other month, and I got my gift today! The theme was Happy Children’s Day which is pretty general but gave everybody a chance to give a gift specifically for the children. Today, I got the cutest little ladybug outfit, a matching hairbow (I love hairbows!), and the cutest little ladybug spoon and fork set. It was good to get a fun package today!
